Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy Andhra New CM News

At least 30 Member of Parlament(MPs) and over 50 MLAs have launched a separate campaigns to garner support in favour of Jaganmohan Reddy to make a CM.

The campaign manifested even on Thursday afternoon, at a meeting of ministers in YSR’s Cabinet convened by Chief Minister K. Rosaiah to adopt a condolence resolution.

The Ministers availed themselves of the opportunity to adopt a unanimous resolution to propose the candidature of Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy for Chief Minister. They argued that Jagan, as he is popularly known, enjoyed the support of the masses and was acceptable to all sections, just like his father.

“It is necessary to elevate Jagan to the top post in order to take the message of YSR forward and to complete the pending irrigation projects,” Mr. Vikramarka said, reasoning that when A.K. Antony and Omar Abdullah could become Chief Ministers in their late 30s, there was nothing wrong in choosing Jagan for the post.

YS Jaganmohan Reddy is an industrialist. He runs ‘Sakshi’ daily newspaper and a sakshi television channel also. Jaganmohan Reddy was elected Lok Sabha constituency during the 2009 general elections from Kadapa.

Govt increases dearness pay for employees, pensioners by 5%

The government announced increase 5% in the Dearness allounce to the Central Government Employees and pensioners.This effect from July this year.

This decision taken by the union cabinet, information and broadcasting minister Ambika Soni told reporters that the combined impact on the exchequer on account of increase in dearness allowance and relief would be of the order of Rs 4,355.35 crore for a full year.

Karzai says United States wants to manipulate him

Suzuki to spend $215 million on new Haryana factory

TOKYO (Reuters) - Japan's Suzuki Motor said it plans to invest about 20 billion yen ($215 million) to build a new car factory in Haryana, aiming to upgrade its production facilities in the face of growing competition.

Suzuki, which controls about half the Indian car market through unit Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, said late on Saturday that the new facility would come on-line as early as 2011 and have an annual output capacity of about 250,000 cars.

Sonia will take a decision on succession issue: Jagan

Hyderabad: Jaganmohan Reddy, whose supporters are campaigning for making him the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, on Sunday broke his silence on the succession issue saying it should be left to the high command for a decision.

In a veiled reference to his supporters' demand, 36-year-old Jagan said party chief Sonia Gandhi respects public perception and feelings of lakhs of Congress Party workers and would take a decision in such a way that his father Rajasekhara Reddy's ideals, mission and zeal would not be compromised.

Tendulkar wants 50-over rethink

Sachin Tendulkar has suggested 50-over one-day internationals be split into two innings of 25 overs each to revive interest in the format.

Union Minister D Purandeswari on Saturday appeared to be not ruling herself out of the race for Andhra Pradesh chief ministership.

Purandeshwari, daughter of the late N T Ramarao, the first non-Congress Chief Minister of the state, merely remarked "everything depends on the high command" when asked whether she was in the race.

Kadapa district to be named after YSR

HYDERABAD: After being sworn in on Thursday, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K. Rosaiah convened an emergency Cabinet meeting which adopted a resolution to name Kadapa district after Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.

The meeting, which lasted hardly 20 minutes, mourned Dr. Reddy and four others. It observed two minutes’ silence.

Describing YSR’s death as most shocking, the Cabinet expressed its sympathies to all the bereaved families.

YSR’s body recovered, brought to Hyderabad

TRAGIC END: A rescue helicopter retrieves one of the five bodies found on the hills of Nallamala forests near Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh on Thursday. The bodies included that of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Rajasekhara Reddy. He was among the five persons killed when the State government’s Bell-430 chopper crashed on Wednesday morning.

HYDERABAD: All of 24 hours after the helicopter in which he was travelling went missing, the body of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy was recovered from its wreckage on Thursday morning. Within six hours, Finance Minister Konijeti Rosaiah (77) was sworn in Chief Minister at a hurriedly organised and low-key ceremony, by Governor N.D. Tiwari at the Raj Bhavan.

AMC Renews Mad Men

The AMC drama Mad Men has been renewed for a fourth season. The announcement comes three episodes into its third season, with the series appearing to be building in popularity. The season premiere garnered the show's highest ratings ever, with 4.5 million viewers tuned in.

The second season wrapped without a firm promise of return, due to contentious negotiations with showrunner Matthew Weiner which were not finalized until early this year. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh worried on Swine Flu outbreak – India faces epidemic

DNA samples from car match with 26/11 terrorists

A forensic expert today said DNA samples taken from articles recovered from the car used by 26/11 terrorists matched with the genetic footprints of slain terrorist Abu Ismael.

The samples were taken from a weapon, blood and jacket belonging to Ismael collected from the stolen Skoda car, the witness told special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam.

Tata's new plan: Talk endlessly for Re 1

New Delhi: Indian call charges touched a new low today with telecom operator Tata Teleservices' new tariff plan that allows CDMA subscribers unlimited hours on local calls for just Re 1.

In the new 'Pay-Per-Call' plan, the company has moved away from the usual practice of charging on a one minute-pulse basis. Instead Tata Teleservices pre-paid CDMA subscribers will be charged Re 1 for all local calls and Rs 3 for long distance calls, regardless of the duration.

Government not to oppose HC verdict on gay rights

NDTV has learnt that the government will not oppose decriminalising gay sex in the Supreme Court.

NDTV has exclusive information that in a note prepared by the Cabinet, the government will tell the Supreme Court that it doesn't find any legal error with the Delhi High Court ruling that read down section 377, decriminalising homosexuality.

It goes on to say that the government leaves it to the Supreme Court to take the final decision on the High Court's judgement, which said the consensual gay sex is legal.
